For a Spring Boot backend project, JUnit 5 is the natural default -- it's what Spring Boot's testing starter integrates with out of the box. For a QA automation role specifically (Selenium/API test suites), TestNG's built-in data providers and more flexible test dependency/grouping features make it a very common choice, though modern JUnit 5 has closed much of that gap. If you're job-hunting, check what your target companies' existing codebases and job descriptions actually mention, since switching later is a real but manageable effort.
